CLASSES

Thank you for your interest in learning with Owl Eyes! Below you will see all of the classes that I currently offer with the suggested times for a full class. I will gear the class toward the age and experience of the group. If you would like to learn any of these skills, please contact me to schedule a private class or contact your local library, museum, or nature center and tell them about Owl Eyes Wilderness Survival.

This class will introduce you to a simple friction fire method called hand drill. A hand drill includes only a thin hearth board, and a long spindle from an herbaceous plant which is spun by rubbing your hands back and forth. 1 ½ hours.

The bow drill is made up of a spindle, hearth board, hand hold, and a fire bow. You will be shown the technique of starting a bow drill fire and have hands on practice with this tool. This ancient survival skill is a must-know for any outdoors enthusiast. 2 hours.
